One of the many gorgeous sunsets we enjoy in Canada.

The fields around us are beginning to show their colors, inviting farmers to begin harvesting.  Canola fields are always fun because they add so much color to the landscape.

Our poor flowers struggled this year due to the excessive dryness so we had to plant them twice this year.  Thankfully, these are doing well so far...amazing what water can do.  (need I mention the analogies to this???)

My family and I were in Winnipeg, Manitoba, this weekend for a cousin's wedding and we stopped by the Manitoba parliment buildings while there.  I was born in Winnipeg so it was fun to explore a little more of my history, although we only lived there four months of my life.  :)  The Golden Boy is famous and sits on top of the dome while Queen Victoria welcomes vistors from her metal throne in front.

Westerner Days began last week here in Red Deer and it started with a large parade through the city street.  Among the amusing floats were these little motorized coolers...now that's the way to ride!

  • Aleita

I'm not sure how many of you have the incredible privilege of knowing my sister, but for those of you who do know her, she's fun, beautiful, daring, creative, takes initiative, loves learning, cares about others, and considers life an adventure.

On our journey/trip around the states, we were able to see her for a bit and met her culinary class:

Seeing Aleita for the first time in over a month - I was reunited with my best friend once again!

Aleita in her new chef's hat and looking rather professional

The culinary class!  Left to right: Mama, Dad (hiding behind Mama), Breanne, Andrew, Stephen, Josephine, Keisha, Anna, and lastly, Aleita

The class also sang beautifully and blessed many people with their talent.  While I was upstairs on the 13th floor doing my hair cutting, they sang for Mom and Dad in the stairwell so the full effect of the great acoustics could creative their song into a dynamic masterpiece.

As a special treat, Dad (who hates coffee with a passion) took the group out to Starbucks in the motorhome.  That is one outing I'm sorry I missed!

Aleita spent time with Mr. and Mrs. Norvell, two dynamic believers who have counseled so many students in the past and witnessed with their lives.  Aleita and I are just two who have benefited from their example.

Aleita has a sense of humor as well and it never ceases to amaze me when she pops off some great one-liners!  This picture is just the tip of the iceberg of what humor and fun lay below the surface.  :)

She's also a gardener and a lover of animals and the outdoors.  But why makes outdoor work dull?  There's always a way to spice up even the simpliest job of planting the garden.

Aleita is a wonderful sister and I miss her dearly.  Only two months until I see her again.  :)
